Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is playable early at Gamescom

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be playable early at Gamescom, alongside a host of other upcoming titles.

Are you heading to Gamescom this year? Well, if you are, you’re in luck. You’ll be able to go hands-on with CD Projekt RED’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty.

Phantom Liberty was finally unveiled in full back at Summer Game Fest, with a confirmed release date of 26 September. We had the opportunity to play the expansion which completes the RPG’s redemption. We said, “Phantom Liberty is shaping up to be the victory lap that Cyberpunk 2077 deserves.” In case you missed it, Phantom Liberty will introduce some new features and quality of life updates to the base game, even if you don’t choose to buy the expansion. That includes vehicular combat. It is also set to add new romances for V and a new story ending - and you can get your first taste of the expansion at Gamescom.

Take a look at Phantom Liberty in action below.

Gamescom is one of the biggest events in the gaming calendar. Taking place from 23 to 27 August at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, the convention allows players and press alike to see the very latest on offer in gaming. The event will open with Opening Night Live presented by Geoff Keighley. What are you hoping to see unveiled this year? The rumoured Red Dead Redemption remake and The Last of Us Part II PlayStation 5 re-release feel like likely contenders, but we’ll have to wait and see.

As reported by PCGamesN, Xbox have confirmed which demos will be playable at their booth and it’s a whopper of a list but you guessed it, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is on there. Fans will also be able to sample Stalker 2, Payday 3, Towerborne, Jusant, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Party Animals, Under The Waves, Persona 5 Tactica, The Lamplighter’s League, SteamWorld Build, and Lightyear Frontier.

Unfortunately, Starfield won’t be playable but Bethesda will be giving a theatre presentation on the game. All in all, there’s going to be a lot to enjoy.
