Whenever our favourite games get associated merchandise, it's cause for celebration, and fans will dash out to buy it as soon as they can.

However, these products can often be costly, and the latest surprise release from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is so expensive that fans’ eyes are watering.

Announced on Twitter, a brand-new statue of the show’s protagonist David has been revealed, and it’s a gorgeous sculpture.

The detail is incredible, the sculpt is smooth, it comes with interchangeable heads, plus features LED lights in the base for that Cyberpunk 2077 feel.

However, this isn’t a cheap product by any stretch of the imagination and is currently listed for sale at $1,199.

Fans are reacting, understandably, with shock and awe.

“1k for one statue are you actually mad?” comments one Twitter user.

“No one is dropping a grand on this,” says another.

That is a staggering price, even if the statue is gorgeous, and limited edition, with only 500 being made.

Fans of both the show and the game that inspired it will love the style of this piece, and it would surely look amazing sat on a shelf, but the price will be a sticking point for many, pricing them out of owning something this nice.

“So fire, but goddamn… 1k? I don't have any money in the first place,” says another shocked fan.

“Looks fantastic,” comments another user, who seems to share the enthusiasm of most, even if they don’t think the expression of David is quite right.

It feels like premium merch like this kind of misses the mark, leaving many out of options to buy something of this quality.

It will surely sell out, but it’s a shame that so many fans will never get to own one.

As this user says, “I love it, but not over 1k love it. Yowza.”
