Call Of Duty is officially getting a live-action film adaptation, and it might not be as bad as it sounds.
It was announced today that the live-action film will be made with Paramount Pictures, though details on the plot, cast and more haven’t been shared just yet.
What era of Call Of Duty will be explored is also unknown, though it’ll more than likely be set around the modern day.
While we’re not short of war films and the timing isn’t exactly great, from a video game adaption point-of-view Call Of Duty is a very malleable franchise for a live-action project. There are certainly characters that couldn’t and shouldn’t be messed with but in terms of story details there’s a lot of freedom with the IP to do something cool.

Speaking more about the film David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Paramount, said "We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick.”
Top Gun: Maverick was a great film so that at least sounds promising, we’ll have to see if it delivers.
Apparently it’s not just stopping at one film either, as given its successful multiple films could be made which is probably how it’ll explore other eras in Call Of Duty’s long history, like the more futuristic Black Ops storylines we’ve been seeing.
It’s also said that TV shows are on the cards, though information on what those could look like hasn’t been shared.

All in all it’s an exciting announcement for Call Of Duty fans, though many first impressions to the news haven’t been overly positive, with many questioning why the franchise needs to be turned into a live-action project to begin with.
