Bloodborne Meets Mario Kart in Ridiculous Free Steam Game

An absolutely bonkers combo

Bloodborne is a game that is rooted in the immense misery of its setting, as players carve their way through countless enemies in a story that's about as bleak as it gets for a lot of its runtime.

That said, it's also one of the best games I have ever played, and a lot of people seem to agree, as calls for it to return via a sequel or remaster are louder than ever, more than ten years after its initial release.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Mario Kart, a game about driving tiny little cars while playing as some of the most adorable and iconic characters in video game history.

It has been the scene of countless enjoyable hours over the years, as kids and adults gather in their living rooms to chuck bananas and shells at each other (sometimes drunk).

Given how different they are, you wouldn't necessarily think that they would combine brilliantly, but it turns out that absolutely isn't the case, as the following game can attest to.

Nightmare Kart is Everything You Want it to be

Over on Steam, Nightmare Kart is a game that combines all of the visual and aesthetic elements of Bloodborne, with the fast-paced, frenetic racing gameplay of the Mario Kart series.

It's a bonkers combination, but one that has proved extremely popular with players, as the game currently sits on Overwhelmingly Positive feedback from almost 4300 reviews since its release.

In the developer's own words, "You are a beast hunter, conscripted against your will to participate in a most peculiar local custom: a tournament where participants race atop mysterious vehicles comprised of copper and steam.

"Race through blood-soaked gothic streets atop one of 12 unique vehicles as you seek answers behind the origin of this nightmare."

You will get to take advantage of some pretty mad looking weapons as you try to take out enemy racers and reduce them to scrap.

There are a bunch of other mechanics that Mario Kart fans will recognise as well, including speed boosts and drifting, though the execution is a little different here.

If you've got your friends round, you can also play local co-op with controllers.

It's a really good feature; something that far too few games offer these days.

And in even better news, the game is totally free to download, so there's absolutely no risk with jumping on and giving it a go if you think it looks like something you'll enjoy.
