Black Ops 6 players beg Treyarch to reverse “painful” scorestreak changes

Changes to XP gain a symptom of a wider issue

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 players are unhappy with recent nerfs to scorestreaks, and are begging Treyarch to revert the changes.

Season 1 of Black Ops 6 is well underway, with Treyarch releasing a whole host of content to drop as the season progresses.

With each CoD update comes some expected (and unexpected) nerfs to the various weapons, perks, and scorestreaks the game has to offer.

Catch up on the Blacks Ops story with the trailer below.

One of the latest changes that doesn’t seem to be going down too well in the community are the nerfs to the UAV and CUAV scorestreaks.

Treyarch appears to have reduced the time each streak is spent in the air, as well as the score earned for calling one in.

“The UAVs and CUAVs have been stealth nerfed in so many ways that it's painful,” writes Reddit user General_Khanners. “It's literally more helpful to the enemy team for them to shoot down than it is for me to call it in for my team.”

Previously, UAVs and CUAVs would give 15 XP to the player calling them in every time a friendly player would kill a member of the opposite team. That number has now been reduced to 5 XP.

This XP was previously good for players to build up their score to call in other scorestreaks, as well as earning levels to unlock new guns and perks. But now, it seems as though players may be in for a higher grind than they bargained for.

User Benti86 likens the overuse of UAVs to the difficulty of the game, writing “The problem with UAVs and CUAVs wasn't that they were too good, it's that every other streak is too hard to get.”

“For the past half a decade we've seen streaks nerfed into the f***ing ground and the rise of SBMM makes anything beyond 12 kills/1200 score generally a pipe dream.”

The changes to score earned with UAVs are also symptomatic of another issue the CoD community has with the game at the moment, following the confirmation that previously-earned XP tokens from earlier Call of Duty games like Modern Warfare 3 would not apply to Black Ops 6.

“A better question to ask is what is the reason behind Treyarch's war on XP?” wrote another Reddit user in the comments, in reference to this.

We’ll wait and see if Treyarch decides to revert these changes. Either way, it looks like building up your score is going to be a lot tougher for now.
