Batman: Arkham Knight cancelled sequel sounds like exactly what we always wanted

A crying shame

The concept ideas and art for the cancelled Batman: Arkham Knight sequel look leagues ahead of what we got instead.

Going from the masterful Batman: Arkham trilogy to abysmal Suicide Squud: Kill The Justice was a big slap in the face for fans everywhere, with what we could have got instead adding further insult to injury.

Take a look at Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League below

Even though it’s not part of the Rocksteady Arkhamverse, I’d say Gotham Knights was a better continuation of that story than SS: KTJL was.

The planned sequel for Arkham Knight would have apparently followed a similar idea, seeing new heroes rise to take up the mantle of Gotham’s Dark Knight, though it would have apparently focused on Damian Wayne putting on the cape and cowl.

For the longest time it was known as Project Sabbath and would have seen Damian wear a new, more advanced batsuit, ride a motorcycle, and receive mentorship from both Bruce Wayne, who’d faked his death, and Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing.

How exactly this mentorship would impact Damian’s rise as a hero is unknown, but it potentially hints at player-based choices on what kind of vigilante fans would want him to be.

New and old villains would return to wreak havoc on Gotham City, like Poison Ivy, Two-Face, and new Black Mask and many more.

It sounds like a far cry from the continuation we actually got, and it’s unlikely we’ll ever see it come to fruition following Rocksteady’s commitment to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

You never know though, maybe the next step would be a reboot of the Arkhamverse, or perhaps it’s time for another developer to take a crack at the Dark Knight’s world, I think we’d all love to see a Batman Beyond game.
