The internet is having a whole Batman moment right now, isn’t it? The Batman has been a roaring success, with critic views and audience opinion alike both being incredibly positive, despite some concerns from fans prior to its release surrounding how good Robert Pattinson would actually be as the Dark Knight.

Even though it seems Pattinson is on his way to becoming a fan-favourite Batman, we can’t forget the amazing ones who came before him, such as the legend that is Kevin Conroy. Although he might have never physically graced our screens as the Dark Knight, he was the voice for the character in the classic 90s show, Batman: The Animated Series, as well as the much-loved Batman: Arkham games. The last of those was, of course, the iconic Arkham Knight, which released almost seven years ago, if you can believe it. Needless to say, fans have been hungry for more for some time now, but according to the voice actor, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting any new Arkham action any time soon.

Before we go on, be sure to check out the trailer for The Batman below.

As reported by GamesRadar+, in an interview with The Movie Dweeb on YouTube, Conroy was asked whether or not there were any new Arkham titles in the works, and sadly, the answer was a definite no, even though he wished it wasn’t.

“I wish there was, I really do. Because people ask all the time,” he said. He went on to discuss his thoughts as to why the series hasn’t been continued: “You have to understand how expensive they are to build. They cost a fortune. They take years. Arkham Knight took two years to put together, and it was a huge secret, no-one could know about it,” he said.

So, that’s unfortunate. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the series is dead forever - in the grand scheme of things, other franchises have seen comebacks happen after way longer periods of time than that. Plus, I think we can all agree a new-gen Arkham game would look stellar. We can dream.
