Assassin's Creed fans in love with surprise remaster you can download free now

Revisit an old classic

Well, this is a welcomed surprise.

We should all be playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows by now but as you’re likely well aware, the title was delayed to February of next year.

Clearly though, Ubisoft didn’t want us to go totally empty handed.

The company has surprised fans with a free new-gen patch for a franchise classic.

Okay, yes, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate isn’t the most beloved of all entries, but the opportunity to play it running at 60fps for free? I’ll take that.

“Get ready to rediscover Victorian London! Starting tomorrow, console players can download a free patch and run Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at 4K/60fps on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X (1080p/60fps on Xbox Series S),” Ubisoft announced.

That phrasing of tomorrow refers to today, if that’s not too confusing, so owners of the game should be able to download the patch right now.

If you don’t have the game, there’s a little added bonus for you as the game is discounted by 75% in Ubisoft’s Black Friday sale.

Let’s remind ourselves of the gameplay trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

As the above tweet makes clear, the free patch is available on PlayStation 5, both the base model and Pro, as well as Xbox Series X/S.

The Series S can only hit 1080p/60fps though compared to the other console’s 4K resolution.

Needless to say, fans are delighted with this surprise drop.

“Great, will definitely try it. Syndicate has always been a bit underrated, good to see the upgrade to re-introduce the game to a new audience,” wrote Twitter user Stradivari78.

“I didn’t even like this game and it still makes me happy to see this,” added Solidrev.

Feevn51 commented, “Huge respect for doing this,” which bodes well as Ubisoft did need to get fans back on side.

Judging by overall sentiment, it appears fans are hoping Unity will receive the same treatment but for now, this will keep us busy.
