Assassin's Creed Odyssey's open world is one of the series' best, fans agree

Fans are in agreement that Assassin's Creed Odyssey's open world is one of the series' best.

Between Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Nexus, we’re swimming in new entries from Ubisoft’s long-running franchise, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop revisiting our old favourites.

I, like many others, enjoyed Mirage’s efforts to return the Assassin’s Creed series to its stealth-based roots. That being said, I’m probably in the minority of fans by saying that I actually adore the franchise’s RPG entries. There’s something so special about being given a sprawling open-world to explore. It’s why I’m so excited for the upcoming Codename Red, the final entry in the RPG saga of the series. The game is set to take players to Feudal Japan. In the meantime, those of us who enjoy RPG flavourings have been flocking back to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which many players are hailing as one of the series’ best entries.

Take a look at the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Red in action below.

Whether you prefer RPG or stealth focused entries, you cannot deny that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a great game - even if it does stray from the franchise’s traditional format. Over on Reddit, user sharpeman kicked off a conversation, writing, “Just done all the story there is to do in this game and I already miss Kassandra. [...] As far as story goes, AC: Odyssey has gotten me hooked.”

They continued, “While some of the RPG aspects were annoying, [...] the world was amazingly well built and felt lived in. It immersed me so well that it felt like second nature strolling through some of the cities.” Plenty of others agreed. “Odyssey is still my favourite AC game of all time, and it's up there on the list of my favourite games of all time,” added everythingbeeps.

“I just got Odyssey from the Steam sale and I'm loving it so far - only 4 hours in,” commented koshiVAL. Do give it a go if you haven’t already. It’s available to play on Xbox Game Pass and as a part of PlayStation Plus’ premium tier.
