It is no easy feat to release a brand-new RPG with the genre offering so much stiff competition.

However, 2025 is going all out when it comes to the latest RPG and this upcoming release is no different by combining the best of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with a touch of the Assassin’s Creed series thrown in for good measure.

Check out the official gameplay trailer for Crimson Desert below!

Set to release some time this year, Crimson Desert is an upcoming open-world, action-adventure RPG from developers Pearl Abyss.

Set on the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel, players will follow Kliff, the leader of the Greymanes who must set off on an incredible journey.

With adventures to be had, wonders to be uncovered, and thrilling action to get stuck into, Crimson Desert is set to hold its own amongst the rest of the 2025 RPG releases.

“Welcome to the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel,” the official synopsis reads.

“From the snow-blasted mountains of Kweiden to the verdant expanses of Akapen and the towering ridges scattering the Crimson Desert, this land is a testament to nature's grandeur.

Yet, amidst this beauty, the continent stands locked in war as factions vie for unprecedented power.”

On his path, Kliff and his comrades will uncover the truth about the catastrophe looming over Pywel whilst finding their path littered with dependable allies and countless foes alike.

Although Crimson Desert has not yet received an official release date, Pearl Abyss released a 50-minute gameplay trailer in September last year, giving potential fans a glimpse at what this open-world RPG has to offer.

“I love when games aren’t afraid to show GAMEPLAY even if the game is far from being released. It shows confidence!” One comment read.

“A medieval game that's not Souls plus it's got early Assassins Creed and The Witcher plus Shadow of Mordor, what an amazing combination!! Absolutely can't wait to play!!” Yet another budding fan wrote.

With 2025 already offering some incredible RPGs, it would seem as though Crimson Desert is yet another to add to your wishlist for later this year.
