Assassin’s Creed fans are no doubt looking forward to another open world adventure this year, but are set for disappointment following a massive delay.

In 2024, two open world Assassin’s Creed games were set to make their debut, with the big one being Assassin’s Creed Red which will take the series to Feudal Japan for some samurai and ninja fun.

Take a look at the teaser for Assassin’s Creed Red below.

A second open world game was also on the horizon, granted not for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

It was none other than Assassin’s Creed Jade, another open world title made exclusively for mobile devices, which would see players traverse an area in China whilst on the go.

A playtest for the game was made available last year, though unfortunately it seems things haven’t quite gone to plan as the game has been pushed back to 2025 instead.

While the headline release for this year is, of course, Assassin’s Creed Red, many fans will likely be disappointed that the first exclusive mobile game has been delayed, reportedly due to developer Tencent pulling staff from the project and placing them elsewhere.

Rest assured though, there’s no news on Assassin’s Creed Red being delayed, in fact many fans are expecting a gameplay reveal in the coming months.

It’s said the game will launch towards the end of the year, starring two protagonists one of which is a samurai and the other a shinobi. The game will also reportedly delve into Japanese culture and mythology in a similar way to previous entries like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

As for Assassin’s Creed Jade, the game currently has no release date and is now expected to launch sometime in 2025 exclusively for mobile devices.
