The Assassin’s Creed news just keeps on coming. Seriously, there is no better time to be a fan of this franchise. Ubisoft are throwing the kitchen sink at it and for that, I am grateful.

The next major release on the roster is Assassin’s Creed Mirage which will launch on 12 October. Featuring Valhalla’s Basim, the game is set in ninth century Baghdad and will mark a return to AC’s stealth-based roots. You’ll be relieved to know that it also features the smallest AC map in years. Elsewhere, Ezio Auditore will return in Assassin’s Creed Nexus, while Assassin's Creed Codename Jade will take players back to second century BC China. Insiders also claim that a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is in the works, which is the game I’m here to talk to you about today, as a free DLC expansion has just become available.

Take a look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage in action below.

You may recall the Aveline DLC, released back in 2013. The DLC starred the titular Aveline De Grandpre as she embarked on three missions to rescue a recruit from Assassin’s Creed 3’s Connor. If you never got around to purchasing that expansion though and you own a PC copy of Black Flag, you’re in for a treat.

Reddit user poopieuser909 pointed out that the Aveline DLC was seemingly added to the base game in a new patch, meaning that everyone on PC should now have access. We do love a freebie. They wrote, “It appears that the PC AC: Black Flag version got a patch that removed the ability to play full screen and also added the Aveline DLC to those that didn't have it. [...] Aveline DLC was never part of the season pass, only Freedom Cry. It's a small DLC so it's not that big a deal, but it seems to point to Ubisoft updating all copies of the game to a standardised Deluxe Edition of the game for whatever reason, which is cool for now.”

It awaits to be seen if console players have also gained the Aveline DLC or whether this is a PC addition only. Still, it’s a fun and unexpected bonus for PC players.
