Details on an unreleased Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag DLC leak, and it seems like it could have been ridiculously good.

Ever since Assassin’s Creed was released in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it became one of Ubisoft’s most important and popular properties, and each new release is a big event for its fans.

With so many games in the series to choose from, it might be a tough ask to choose a Mount Rushmore of Assassin’s Creed games. But there’s every chance that each of the entries starring the endlessly charismatic Ezio Auditore da Firenze will claim its place.

One other game that will most likely make a strong claim to earn its place is the aforementioned Assassin’s Creed: IV: Black Flag, released in 2013, starring the other endlessly charismatic character, Edward Kenway.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag not only brought the high octane action and fun parkour gameplay that fans of the series expect, but its open-world was blown wide open as we lived a fantasy pirate life, sailing the seven seas.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag proved to be so popular that it even spawned an DLC later in its release year called Freedom Cry. However, there was supposed to be another DLC that sadly never got to see the light of day.

As brought to our attention by the Twitter account, ‘The Hidden One’, Ubisoft developer and Assassin’s Creed veteran, Darby McDevitt, reportedly discussed another DLC which would see the return of Edward Kenway taking place years after the main story of Black Flag.

The unreleased DLC would supposedly see Edward Kenway work with the Brotherhood of Assassins in the UK to hunt down the historic and infamous pirate known as Ned Low, who tormented the seas across Africa and India. A reference to Ned Low is even made in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.

As you can imagine, Assassin’s Creed fans are not impressed by being denied what could have been an epic DLC featuring such a beloved character.

“Best-selling game in the franchise at that time, and they never released DLC like that,” exclaimed JohnVaki21.

“I wonder why it was cancelled?” asked MarkoRoseAC. “My first thought was the technology limitations at the time, but that doesn’t seem likely.”

Yet, Ned Low did appear in an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag sequel of sorts, but obviously, it wasn't in a video game, but rather a comic story.

“Ned Low appeared in the Assassin’s Creed: Reflections comic. Otso Berg relived that part of Edwards' life,” said xBadKarmaa.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
