Assassin's Creed fans seriously concerned following abrupt cancellations

What does this mean for the game?

Back in September, it was revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be delayed until 2025 despite originally being set to launch in late November.

Now following the delay, things are going from bad to worse after Ubisoft confirms that players who pre-ordered the Assassin's Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition would no longer gain access to its Season Pass or Early Access mode.

As a result, the price of the Collector’s Edition has dropped by $50.

Confirmed in a recent Discord post, Ubisoft has confirmed that the price will now be $229.99 rather than the original $279.99 and some of the original bonus features will no longer be included.

"The content will mostly remain as initially advertised, though some design elements may change," the statement read.

Of course, this is still a massive investment so it is understandable that fans are feeling concerned.

As mentioned, the original CE would have come with Early Access for Assassin’s Creed Shadows which would have allowed eligible players to access the highly-anticipated game three days before those who buy the standard edition.

Now, with the price decrease implemented, the Collector’s Edition will include a copy of the game, a statue of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke, an art book, a life-size replica of Naoe’s katana tsuba, a world map, wall scroll and two lithographs.

Although this is by no means a disappointing selection of collectibles, fans are still feeling concerned over the state of the game as a whole.

Taking to r/PS5, a discussion kicked off over Ubisoft’s plans to scrap both the season pass and early access.

“Usually Ubisoft waits a month or two after the game comes out to slash the price, now they're doing it 4 months before the game is released!” One player joked.

Another hopeful fan said: “My hope here is that Ubisoft needs a win with this title, so they are planning to release the most content-complete/bug-free version of AC Shadows as possible.”

With Assassin’s Creed Shadows expected to be released on 14 February 2025, we won’t have long to find out if the delay was worth it.
