Animal Crossing gamers are still waiting for the next game in the series, hopefully coming soon to the Nintendo Switch 2.

While they wait though there are plenty of alternatives out there if Animal Crossing: New Horizons just isn’t doing it for you anymore. No shade to New Horizons either, it’s a fine game and it's given us many fond memories but it was lacking in content compared to previous entries in the series.

If you like Animal Crossing and play on Steam often these two games should be just up your street.

The first is one you might have heard of before, it’s called Starsand Island and you can catch a preview on our website.

Starsand Island asks you to “leave the hustle of the city behind” as you fish, farm and raise animals much like Stardew Valley. You’ll also fall in love and romance some of the locals, which is something I know a lot of gamers need in their farming sims nowadays.

It’s not due to launch until early next year but in the meantime you can catch a free demo of the game on Steam.

Next is a game you might not have seen before, Everdream Village, which is another cosy farming simulator that might fill the void Animal Crossing left behind.

Everdream Village’s description reads: “Build your ideal, cozy farm in a living village. Form bonds with fellow villagers to lend a hand as you grow crops, care for animals, and craft a corner of paradise. Sail across enchanted islands to discover new resources and adventures along the way.”

Visually it’s quite a stunning game even if the artstyle is a little bizarre. Maybe it’s just me but something about it looks off at first glance, but I’m sure it’s nothing.

Gameplay-wise it’ll be more of what you love, so how can you go wrong with that? Like Starsand Island a free demo is available on Steam

Animal Crossing On The Nintendo Switch 2

The Kings of cosy gaming are Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley respectively, with the latter still going strong with the occasional content update.

Animal Crossing on the other hand relies on new games to keep its audience engaged and unfortunately none have been teased as of yet.

With the power of the Nintendo Switch 2 though one is definitely on the way, it’s just a matter of when and what kind of civilisation we’ll be building next, perhaps going back to city life?
