Red Dead Redemption 2 players warned they've 48 hours to claim free download

Time to yee, and indeed, haw

What if I told you that you could get yourself a tasty freebie for Red Dead Redemption 2? I bet you’d give me a yeehaw.

Well then, partner, get your spurs on, saddle up your horse, and strap on your holster, because there’s a Red Dead Online item you can grab now, but you’ve only got 48 hours.

Grab some freebies in Red Dead Online today

I know what you’re thinking - “What is this free item I can get for my cowboy/cowgirl (delete as applicable)?”

If you log into Red Dead Online between 11 and 17 March, and complete a Persistent Posse quest, you can get your grubby little hands on a red Prieto Poncho.

Rockstar Games gives out little freebies every week in-game. Last week players got a pair of blue Salter Shoes, next week it’ll be a black Raccoon Hat.

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a new poncho? I know I do. The levels of swag you attain by wearing a ‘red Prieto Poncho’ will be off the charts.

You’ve got 48 hours to log in, complete a quest, and snag this baby.

As ever, there’s a huge XP boost going on, right now, and you can earn yourself some cowboy bucks (that’s what they’re called, right?) by shooting things, and people.

All the details are found over on the Rockstar Games blog.

I really should play Red Dead Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, to be honest. I love the idea of just moseying about, hunting some wildlife, ransacking bandit camps, wearing ponchos - I could never pull off a poncho in real life.

They must feel so good to wear all year round. An extra layer in the colder months, put a t-shirt under it in the Spring.

Being overweight and bald, I think I’d look like Homer Simpson in that episode where he puts on lots of weight to get out of the work exercise program, and work from home.

Not a great look.
