GTA 6 teased in the last place we expected

Hit the bricks

Well, I didn’t expect to see some GTA VI promo coming from LEGO Fortnite, of all places.

There I am, mindlessly scrolling social media and I suddenly spot Peely, in his LEGO style from the Fornite spin-off, leaning against a bright red sportscar, in a sunkissed pink and purple cityscape.

See if you can spot the sneaky GTA 6 reference in the latest GTA: Online trailer

It’s clearly some cross-promotion from Fortnite, but why?

GTA 6 IN FORTNITE BEFORE GTA 6 WHAT,” said one GTA fan on Twitter.

Yeah, I don’t understand either. It’s not like one of the companies has announced plans to work with the other.

Is someone at Epic Games just a huge GTA nerd and wanted to show a little love?

You can see the image on the official LEGO Fortnite Twitter page, and it’s still perplexing me.

It’s a great image. The LEGO style really works as a parody but I’d love to know the thinking behind this.

“This is so random,” said another fan on social media.

Now my brain is starting to look like one of those GTA VI Reddit threads filled with conspiracy.

Are the two companies planning a crossover in the future? Is this them sowing the seeds of having Lucia and Jason in Fortnite? Will there be some LEGO shenanigans in GTA VI?

Even if this is simply a way to get more people playing LEGO Fortnite, my hat is off to them.

I’ve recently been playing a lot of the new Fortnite spin-off and it’s even better than it was at launch, where I already had a blast.

If this gets more people playing, then good job all round.

One Fortnite fan account on Twitter is stating the big thoughts though, “So we can't get LEGO Deadpool & Snoop Dogg but a GTA reference is completely fine.”

They have a point, especially as the family-friendly company doesn’t like to cross over with adult properties, making this an even more perplexing occurrence.
