Warhammer 40k: Darktide has added a new class to the game years after it first came out, and while it’s not a game-changer it’s impressive to see the game still getting such support so many years on.
I do love Warhammer but I can’t say I’ve been an avid Warhammer 40k: Darktide player. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine and its sequel are my jam, I've never been too interested in playing as anything other than one of the Emperor’s angels of death.
After a quick demo of the new class in Darktide though I think I’ll give it a proper go, as while it wasn’t as fun as it’d probably be with friends I can’t say I didn’t have a good time.

The new class added to the game is called the Arbites, which is basically the 40k equivalent of a riot cop.
He’s equipped with a riot shield and a melee/ranged weapon of your choice, as well as a dog that you can customise just like your characters. Also yes, you can pet the dog, or at least the grimdark equivalent which is more of a stoic salute.
In-game this class operates as a line-breaker with the dog being a good distraction AI, as well as handy for picking off distant enemies the Arbites can’t reach. Again I played in singleplayer which definitely isn’t as fun as multiplayer.
They’re a solid addition though, and I’m looking forward to seeing if any more new classes are added as time goes on, though when I raised a question about future updates it was clear they didn’t want to give too much away,

The new Arbites class will join the game on 23 June, allowing you to unleash even more pain on the heretics and chaos cultists.
