Every now and again, I just get the urge to pick up a simulation game so I can live out my fantasy of experiencing all of the jobs that I may never get the chance to.
Luckily, these days there is a simulation game for everything: running stores, restaurants and zoos and even renovating houses or curating your very own museum.
However, there is a new simulation game on the block that is managing to take the world by storm despite being created by a team of just five developers.
Since it was launched back on 22 August, it has seen some big streamers such as CaseOh and Ironmouse pick it up which has led to plenty of hilarious viral videos that show just how chaotic and engrossing this game really is.

I am talking about Waterpark Simulator, an immersive simulation game where, as you can probably guess, you will be in charge of building your very own waterpark from the ground up and turn it into a five-star resort.
It was watching those viral moments of Ironmouse complaining about a customer sh*tting in a pool and CaseOh watching a paramedic whisk away somebody who had died in his pool which made me rush to Steam to try out the game for myself and luckily, Waterpark Simulator is free to try out right now.
Developed by CayPlay, Waterpark Simulator is everything you want in a simulation game as you can expect your stress levels to reach maximum as you rush around after your customers as they do everything in their power to make your life hell.

They leave puddles of water behind them and then promptly slip on them in ragdoll fashion, they quite literally leave dumps throughout the park if a toilet is occupied and then just when you have a moment to relax and keep up to date with any maintenance and cleaning, they will decide to drown which will see you have to rush to find a life preserver and frisbee it in their general direction.
As your park expands, so do your customer base and you will have to keep up with demands. This means using research points to unlock new attractions, abilities, staff and decorations. It is here that you will be able to adorn your ever-growing park with hotdog and lemonade stands, jukeboxes, ever-breaking toilets and showers and of course, new staff.
There is no denying that the AI can be quite janky in Waterpark Simulator as I once spent around 10 minutes watching my janitor dry jump the side of the hot dog stand. However, thanks to your push ability which you can also use to shove customers who haven’t paid out of the park, I was able to free him and he got on with his cleaning duties.
What once starts off as an abandoned and derelict waterpark can soon turn into a haven as you gradually unlock more and more land to expand across. This means that you’re able to build olympic-sized swimming pools with slides that could also pass as rollercoasters. You will also be able to paint anywhere that your roller can touch, change up the flooring and even dot vending machines in any free corner.

However, you will be stressed.

Waterpark Simulator is 90% stress and 10% fun but I wouldn’t have it any other way. What other game will have three people slip in the same puddle and land in a mass of limbs? Or has a character literally crap themselves when you push them over? Or even sneaks in to spray “I just peed” on the wall as you watch in horror.
Just as you think the calm has arrived, the storm will return and you will find yourself rushing around fixing the broken and drained pool (which customers will still try to dive into), running across the road to ‘Cay Mart’ to restock on hotdogs, lemons and granola or pushing your staff out of the way when they are taking hours to do the smallest task.

Never has a game felt like a full time job but if you are looking for a simulation game which is equal parts hilarious, challenging and extremely well made, you should look no further than Waterpark Simulator which is free to check out on Steam right now.
