Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise may have burst onto the scene back in 1996, but it’s still going strong today. Earlier this year, creator Kazuki Takahashi died in an apparent snorkelling accident, prompting an outpouring of love from fans. Many mourned the creator of one of the greatest trading card games of all time but Takahashi’s greatest legacy is Yu-Gi-Oh!’s unwavering popularity.

According to Konami, over 25 billion Yu-Gi-Oh! cards have been sold in the franchise’s lifetime. That’s over three times the world’s population. Well one fan has taken the card game to new heights, creating incredible 3D battles.

Speaking of Konami, did you catch all the recent Silent Hill news? Check out the trailer for the new Silent Hill 2 remake below.

As shared by media personality Jake Lucky, french streamer superzouloux spent seven months working on the 3D Yu-Gi-Oh! project. Essentially, superzouloux was able to create a holographic representation of the game so that when a card is selected, that character is then summoned via hologram. Check out the footage below to see what I’m talking about.

French streamer @Superzouloux has done something actually insane. Fulfilling his childhood dream of making a real 3D Yu-Gi-Oh battle possible

As reported via ScreenRant, superzouloux explained that this had always been a childhood dream of his. When he was younger, the streamer would try and summon characters with his cards only to be disappointed that nothing would happen. Now, superzouloux’s 3D holograms have brought that dream to life - and that’s the kind of wholesome news I love to hear. I say hologram, that’s how it appears but in truth, it’s an augmented reality display that’s picked up via a specific camera.

Jake Lucky wrote, “[Superzouloux] has programmed each and every card in his deck, through several applications to automatically display each monster and to even change cameras after the animation is done.” Hats off to this guy. Big brain thinking.
