A TikToker has tragically passed away at the age of 27 after falling from a 21-metre cliff while trying to film a video for the social media app.

As reported by Dexerto, TikToker Edgar Garay was found on 30 January by officials near the Cabo Rojo lighthouse in Puerto Rico. The content creator was last seen alive at 5.30PM on 29 January. The Puerto Rico Emergency Bureau dive unit was called in to retrieve Garay’s body after witnesses said they’d seen him “stumble towards the edge” off the cliff while recording a video.

Speaking about the tragedy, coast guard commander Captain José E. Díaz said, “We express our most heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Edgar Garay and pray they find closure and strength during this most difficult time. We appreciate the efforts of all the coast guard, Puerto Rico police and partner agency emergency responders, especially the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Bureau dive unit that was able to locate Mr Garay’s body in such a highly inaccessible and challenging environment.”

It was later confirmed that Edgar was “knocked out” during the fall and subsequently drowned in the waters below. Family members told the press that he suffered “severely damaging injuries.” Edgar’s brother Carlos commented that filming TikTok content was something that Edgar “loved to do.” He added (Via WTHR), “Unfortunately, that was what he was trying to do when he was closer to the edge than he should have been. He was just visiting, so for him to be laid and his final resting place somewhere miles upon miles away from here is just awful and devastating.”

Edgar Garay resided in the state of Indiana. A GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds for the transportation of Edgar’s remains back to his home state. GAMINGbible extends its thoughts and condolences to Edgar’s family and friends.
