There are many things we as gamers love and appreciate; those things that cause us to give a little happy sigh. Deals on digital stores, a win in our favourite team-based game, and being able to preload an exciting upcoming title. Even better when it’s not going to hog all of our precious storage space.

Capcom has announced that Xbox players will be able to preload Dragon’s Dogma 2 up to a week before the game is set for release on 22 March. That’s not the only piece of good news; the game is also relatively small, for modern standards, at only 70GB.

You can preload the anticipated Capcom sequel on Xbox

Currently, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is riding a high prerelease wave of hype. It’s giving Baldur’s Gate 3 levels of excitement for many players and the Capcom release is looking like it might end up stealing some Game of the Year spots when 2024 closes out. It’s no surprise, RPGs have always been popular, but they seem to be going through a mini golden age.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will likely steal away many hours from players as it’s due to span a huge map featuring a wealth of wonderful characters. If you’ve preordered it might be worth checking to see if you can start your preload now, and while you’re waiting for launch you can dabble with the extensive, and frankly jaw-dropping, character creator.

Preloading is pretty standard today, but it doesn’t stop the feature from being welcome as it can save a lot of time in the days of larger downloads. There’s no word as yet on PlayStation 5 preloads, so Xbox users can rejoice.

The sequel has been many years in the making and will take players and their pawns through a deep and brilliant story packed with action and emotional set pieces.
