Wayfinder Studios has revealed Wyldheart, a new co-op RPG coming soon that looks like a mix of Baldur’s Gate and The Elder Scrolls.
If you want a good sandbox co-op RPG to play, you can’t go wrong with something made by veterans of ARC Raiders, Minecraft, and Battlefield. Those games just seem built for that style of gameplay.
In Wyldheart, you play as a peasant who has been thrown in jail, who is then tasked to find an ancient relic to protect the town. Whether you do that alone, or with a group of up to three other friends, is down to you.
The graphics are very similar to those seen in early Elder Scrolls games or the Fable series, with semi-cartoonish graphics in a fairy tale-esque fantasy world.

The main takeaway from what we know so far is that Wyldheart understands the social aspect of RPGs is the thing that hooks players in. It’s one thing to have a robust combat system, but if your towns and NPCs are lacking then you’ve got a huge problem.
Wayfinder says that the game will allow you to “meet local villagers who all have lives, stories and schedules of their own. Reveal quests by eavesdropping, deciphering rumors, and exploring strange ruins. Gather materials, craft items, cook meals for your party, and upgrade your gear before continuing your adventure.”
You’ll effectively be embracing the “RP” in RPG by being able to settle into the role your character plays in the party, advancing the story in a way that feels unique to your playstyle.
This extends to combat as well. As with a lot of RPGs, you’re able to pick from 19 different backgrounds to begin your story, and can invest in a variety of flexible skill trees to improve your abilities.
The types of skill trees include the likes of magic, adventuring, and survival, all of them granting new talents and abilities to help you survive in this harsh world.
In terms of the types of weapons you can use, Wyldheart gives you access to a variety of melee and ranged weapons, from axes and swords to bows and magical spells.
Meanwhile, if you’re part of those groups of players who always struggle to find the time to play together, Wayfinder has at least made the process as quick and painless as possible.
The co-op gameplay has a seamless drop-in and drop-out system, with cloud-shared saves and group XP ensuring that the party can continue even if one player is offline, and nobody will be left behind.
As Wayfinder puts it, the game is “designed for busy gamers, campaigns have about 10 hours of story, and 15 hours of optional content.”
Currently in the alpha stages, Wyldheart will be getting an Early Access release later this year. You can wishlist it on Steam to keep up to date on news.
