Isaac Bardavid, the Brazilian voice actor for Wolverine in the live-action X-Men movies, has died. He was 91 years old.
The writer, actor, and voice artist passed away as a result of emphysema, a lung condition that leads to shortness of breat, earlier this week.
Bardavid's grandson confirmed the sad news on social media, writing: "It is with this sentence that I write that our dear actor, voice actor, writer, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, today left for the spiritual plane. Isaac is gone, but his works will remain there, his voice is immortal as you remember him."
Born in Rio de Jeneiro in 1931, Bardavid appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films including 1995's Tocaia Grande, 2009's Carrer del Mar, and 2012's King David.
The actor also enjoyed a successful career providing the Brazilian voice for a number of well-known characters on film and TV, with Jackman's Wolverine being the most popular.
Jackman shared his own tribute to his longtime friend and colleague Bardavid on Twitter, posting a clip of the pair together several years back. "What a life and legacy," Jackman wrote. "What a voice! Rest well my friend."
Bardavid stepped down from the role of Wolverine at the same time as Jackman, with 2017's Logan marking their last outing together.
