People are doing all sorts of really impressive things in Unreal Engine 5, pushing video games to the kind of heights that we never dreamed were possible.
Earlier this month you may have seen the train station that looked so realistic it was genuinely hard to tell it apart from real-life. Or perhaps you've seen one of the many staggeringly impressive fan remakes doing the rounds, or you're just super excited to see what CD Projekt RED does with Unreal Engine 5 on the next Witcher game.
Now, a new tech demo shared by virtual artist and game developer Dan DeEntremont has absolutely blown up online - and deservedly so.

The brief clip shows off some of the impressive work DeEntremont has been doing in Unreal Engine. The first half is mostly focused on just how realistic a beautifully animated squirrel looks as it scampers around a test level. But things take a delicious turn as the squirrel pulls out a gun and starts blasting.
Check it out below!
The overwhelming response, predictably, is that the people want DeEntremont to make a full-on squirrel shooter based on this demo. Quite right too.

“Okay, so like, this is an important game that needs to be made," responded one viewer. "You did your tests, they’re perfect, time to move on to making a game where I can be a squirrel with a handgun.”
Fortunately, DeEntremont has confirmed that this gloriously bizarre test is more than a one-off, and that they're aiming to create an entire game based around the concept. I can say with complete confidence that this is GOTY material.
