The Legend of Zelda-inspired RPG Twilight Sword is now seeking crowdfunding, and it looks like a thing of beauty.

You may recognise the game developer Two Little Mice as the name behind several recent indie TTRPGs, including Outgunned Adventure, Inferno: Dante’s Guide to Hell, and Memento Mori.

Its latest project is Twilight Sword, a new TTRPG that has visuals and gameplay inspired by The Legend of Zelda series, Final Fantasy, and Ni No Kuni.

“You awaken in a world you do not know. The spirits have chosen you to defeat the forces of evil. Only you can free Radia from despair, and bring back hope,” reads the official blurb on Twilight Sword.

Twilight Sword is an Exciting New TTRPG

The game uses an original system the developer calls CAT, which stands for Created At Twilight. It essentially works by representing most actions for players by rolling a single D12.

As is the case with TTRPGs, your character sheet has several abilities to invest in like Strength, Perception, Charisma. You know, the usual.

However, when you roll a D12 in Twilight Sword, 1 is the best result, while 12 is the worst. If the result of a roll is equal to your ability score or lower, then you achieve a success. But if it goes over, then it’s a failure. So, rolling a 1 will always score a critical success, and rolling a 12 will always result in scoring a critical failure.

Two Little Mice

In case you wanted to try it out for yourself, Two Little Mice has a free preview for you to check out.

If you’d like to see the free preview, you can grab it from the Backer Kit page yourself.

Twilight Sword launched with a backer goal of €10,000, a target it has now smashed. As of writing, the project has accrued €656,130, and the number appears to be climbing every minute.

In any case, Two Little Mice has made sure to include some stretch goals for any additional funding the project earns.

These goals include an exclusive custom dice pouch, new fonts, a new champion, exclusive cards and tokens, and even a solo mode PDF module available as a digital download for every backer.

The full list of stretch goals is actually rather massive, and should mean backers get more bang for their buck with all the additional items. However, there are still some stretch goals that haven’t been reached yet, with Two Little Mice teasing that more are coming soon.

If you’d like to contribute to Twilight Sword yourself, you have until 8PM tonight to back it.
