The Witcher 4 can wait, it sounds like CDPR has something else planned for us

It sounds like a movie could potentially be in The Witcher franchise's future

People seem to think that the folks over at CD Projekt Red are working on some non-game-related media for their most popular franchise The Witcher, based on the details featured in a job listing for a new “writer/editor” position within the company.

As seemingly first spotted by Game Rant’s J Brodie Shirey, the position popped up on CD Projekt Red’s job board toward the end of last week.

As a “writer/editor in the franchise and narrative team”, successful applicants will be tasked with handling the “co-creation of almost every comic book, children’s book, board game and TV series that will go public and be seen by a world audience”.

However, these responsibilities are further expanded upon later on in the job listing to include “writing scripts in English for comic books, tv and movies, but also trailers, teasers, TV commercials, promotional films, and any other story-related materials”.

LEGO Horizon Adventures launches very soon!

Now, everyone has naturally assumed that this means some Witcher-related films and TV shows are in the works - but personally I would say that this should be taken with a grain of salt.

Whilst the job listing does specifically mention “comic books, tv and movies”, that just means that any successful applicants would be responsible for this kind of work down the line - not that they’d immediately be tasked with writing a script for a Witcher movie right out of the gate.

I think CD Projekt Red is just keeping their options open here. I’d love to be proven wrong, as The Witcher’s recent TV show on Netflix proved that live-action projects within the franchise are something they’re thinking about, but none of this is a confirmation in the slightest.

Most importantly however, the job listing notes that CD Projekt Red is a “Dog-friendly office” and that you’re free to “bring your pooch with you and look after them while working!”

Sounds good to me.
