To celebrate The Last of Us Day, PlayStation and HBO have released a brand-new trailer for The Last of Us season two and it is looking pretty epic.

With such a dedicated fanbase, we knew it would not be long before The Last of Us would get picked up for a live-adaptation and that came true thanks to HBO back in early 2023.

With a television series consisting of nine episodes airing on 15 January 2023, a second season was confirmed even before season one had ended.

Now the show is back some time in 2025 and we have a brand-new trailer to show for it courtesy of a Tweet on the official PlayStation Twitter account.

Fans of the Naughty Dog games will already know that season two is going to be an emotional ride and the almost two-minute long trailer gives us a hint at that.

Set during winter, season two of The Last of Us will continue the story of Ellie and Joel who must do what it takes to survive.

Featuring a first proper look at new characters such as Young Mazino as Jackson resident Jesse, Catherine O'Hara as Joel’s therapist and Isabela Merced as Ellie’s girlfriend, Dina, we also see the return of some familiar faces.

With Joel’s version of Future Days by Pearl Jam (if you know, you know) playing in the background, the trailer had a somber tone and fans of the game will know why.

Of course, we get another look at the infamous Abby who will be played by Kaitlyn Dever but she still remains something of a quiet force in the trailers so far.

HBO or Max has yet to announce an official release date for The Last of Us season two but we do know that it will be some time in 2025.

With The Last of Us Day coming by once again, we knew PlayStation would not let this day pass without something to keep the hype building and this trailer has done just that.
