I know for me personally that 2025 is shaping up to be an incredible year. Yes, we’re all very excited about GTA VI. Throw in Professor Layton and the New World of Steam and The Last of Us’ second season and I am positively overbrimming with hype.

We may have quite a while to wait before season two lands, but at least we can ease that pain by diving into The Last of Us Part II Remastered in January. We had the opportunity to go hands-on with the game’s new roguelike No Return mode, writing, “No Return is an absolute must-play for players old and new. It perfectly showcases The Last of Us Part II’s top-class combat whilst introducing an ever-changing set of new conditions and challenges for us to contend with.” It’s both brilliant and brutal, much like I’m hoping season two of HBO’s The Last of Us will be.

Take a look at our The Last of Us Part II Remastered No Return hands-on preview below.

In a new buzz trailer, HBO revealed a series of shows landing on the network in 2024 before briefly moving on ‘Coming in 2025’. The Last of Us was the first show listed. Filming isn’t due to kick off until early 2024, so we didn’t get any new footage but that’s no real surprise. In fact, it’s strange that we’re yet to hear any season two casting news considering how close we are to filming commencing.

Casting announcements were initially delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, although that was resolved several weeks ago. Fans are itching to find out who will play Abby, in addition to other key characters like Dina, Isaac, Owen, Lev, Yara, and Manny. Personally, I’ve got my fingers crossed that Jeffrey Wright will reprise the role of Isaac.

When filming commences, I’m almost certain set photos will leak so you’d expect a casting reveal to come sooner rather than later. Could a news announcement come during tonight’s The Game Awards? It’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
