Stranger Things Viewers Convinced Eddie Munson Returns After Joseph Quinn Interview

Is it ignorance or cunning?

Despite appearing for just one season, Eddie Munson became a beloved character from the Stranger Things’ universe and so it is perhaps no wonder that fans have been campaigning for his return.

Now that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has begun, fans are both excited and terrified to see how the hit Netflix television show will come to an end.

Kicking off way back in 2016, Stranger Things follows the story of a group of young children in 1980s Indiana who soon find themselves coming face to face with supernatural entities and forces.

In a search for answers, they must come together to solve a series of mysteries before the supernatural force destroys their town and everybody in it.

Now on its fifth and final season, Netflix has released the first batch of episodes with the following to be released on 25 December and 31 December.

With the final season seeing the return of some of our favourite cast members (albeit looking a bit older than their supposed teenage counterparts), fans are missing one beloved character. Eddie Munson.

Portrayed by Joseph Quinn in Season Four of Stranger Things, Eddie quickly became a fan-favourite character as the metal-loving leader of the Hellfire Club.

However, following the death of his friend from a supernatural force, Eddie ended up joining our main characters to investigate the cause of the mysterious death.

Ultimately, Eddie and the gang discovered that the dreaded Vecna was behind the murder and in a final showdown, Eddie used his musical abilities to distract Vecna’s Demobats, unfortunately leading to his death.

There May Be Hope After All

As you can imagine, fans were left feeling heartbroken after his death and live in hope that he may have miraculously survived and could appear in the final season.

Now thanks to a recent red carpet interview with Quinn, this theory could indeed be likely.

Appearing at the British Independent Film Awards 2025, Quinn was asked if he had watched the first episode of Stranger Things Season Five yet.

However, it seems as though the English actor was not even aware it was out yet.

“Is it out?” He asked the interviewer.

Of course, this could merely be Quinn not paying any attention to the TV show that many would consider made him a breakout star.

However, it could also be his way of throwing fans off the scent of Eddie’s potential return.

“This video has made me think he might be alive lol,” one comment read.

Another agreed, adding, “He’s been liking every Stranger Things post. He KNOWS y’all.”

Only time will tell and fans will potentially find out on 25 December. And failing that New Year's Eve.
