Star Wars quietly revealed the truth behind The Force, and we all missed it

It's all about balance

The details behind the mysterious Force powers within the Star Wars universe have always been hard to pin down.

We know there’s a light and dark side of The Force, and there’s always been discussion about these needing balance, but beyond that, it’s a bit of a Star Wars mystery.

The Mandalorian makes big decisions that could alter the balance of The Force

Fans will be aware that Anakin Skywalker was supposed to bring balance to The Force, but his journey to the dark side seemingly changed that.

However, according to Star Wars legend Dave Filoni, it seems it wasn’t simply down to Anakin, and that everyone has a part to play in that balance.

Speaking in an interview featured in The Art of The Mandalorian, Filoni touched on that balance and how everyone has a role.

“Everyone struggles with the balance between light and dark,” he says.

The balance of The Force was off-kilter because of the state of the galaxy, and all that pressure shouldn’t have been placed upon the shoulders of Anakin Skywalker.

The creator details this further by saying, “The Force naturally exists in balance; that balance is thrown out when someone chooses to give in to their fears and then spirals out of control, making selfish choice after selfish choice.”

Anakin didn’t upend the force simply by falling to the dark side, it was a wave of fear and hatred that tipped the scales.

Filoni goes on to say, “The choice between dark and light is often subtle and not limited to the Jedi and Sith.”

If everyone’s actions, across the galaxy, combine to alter this balance, then it will be forever shifting when each person has a choice to make.

This is illustrated in the choices of The Mandalorian, when he opts to care for and raise Grogu, rather than turn him over to the Empire.
