If you’ve been keeping up to date on the latest season of Andor on Disney Plus, you might have noticed a different face appear in the latest episode.

It seems that Bail Organa has been recast in the series, and the change has left some Star Wars fans baffled.

Andor season 2 is currently streaming on Disney Plus.

In the past, Bail Organa was played by Jimmy Smits, who has appeared as the character many times throughout the TV shows and films.

“His actor is still alive & well. Was just in the Obi Wan series. Why recast?” asked a viewer of the show.

It seems a scheduling conflict forced Lucasfilm and Disney to recast him for a crucial appearance in season two of Andor.

Now, the character is played by Benjamin Bratt, and while the similarity between the actors is rather uncanny, it has still left many of the audience scratching their heads.

“Took me out of the scene, honestly. If Smits isn’t available, just mention him by name. He is too synonymous with the character,” said one fan over on Twitter.

This is echoed by another user, who said, “Unless Bail has something important to do, they could have left him off-screen, and saved the character for the OG actor.”

It is odd to see any character recast unless the actor has passed away, or been embroiled in some kind of scandal.

“Highly unnecessary,” commented another fan.

You’d have thought that if it was just a small scene, the scheduling could have been shifted to accommodate, but these shows are often on very tight deadlines.

Some viewers, though, believe that Disney got the casting choice right, as the actors do look very similar with the right wardrobe and make-up.

“Now, this is how you recast roles. Looks really good,” comments a Twitter user.

Many were impressed that Bratt could step into the role with such ease, and I daren't say as the character has been recast, he'll have an important role to play in the weeks ahead.
