Love him or hate him, Jar Jar Binks is an integral part of the Star Wars franchise. Appearing first in The Phantom Menace, Binks went on to appear in all of the prequel trilogy, as well as the animated show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

However, as the Star Wars prequel trilogy went on, it was clear that audiences were bouncing off of old Jar Jar and his part was significantly smaller. Now, fans are shocked to find out what happened to him.

Hell Is Us is shaping up to be a great sci-fi adventure from what we've seen of the recent trailer

While we don’t see much of what happened to Jar Jar after Anakin finally turns to the Dark Side on the screen, Binks’ fate has been written in canon.

According to one fan on Reddit, EndlessTheorys_19 describes how life went on for the once goofy side character.

“His eventual fate is depressing. He ends up retiring to Naboo, ostracised from society and reviled by the adults due to his part in bringing Palpatine to power, and living life as a street clown entertaining War-Orphans.”

So, the overly silly Jar Jar ends up as the clown many fans thought he was initially.

This happened in the canon novel Aftermath: Empire's End, giving Binks a rather sad ending.

Another Redditor, DarkLaser28 expressed their shock by saying, “I didn't know Jar Jar's fate was this sad.”

Given that Binks is cast out of society for his role, it seems a bit much for this Redditor who said, “I think it's unfair to blame Jar Jar for that. It was only a matter of time before Palpatine gained emergency powers due to the war. If Jar Jar didn't propose it another senator would have.”

Though if we’re honest with ourselves, nobody got a happy ending after the prequels, so the fate of Jar Jar is in keeping with how the rise of the Empire impacted everyone else.
