Star Wars fans are currently enjoying a new story that sees the return of Qui-Gon Jinn.

Love it or hate it, there are some aspects of The Phantom Menace that Star Wars fans agree are universally pretty good.

Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn is held up as one example, with his performance providing an emotional anchor for the other characters, and his death setting the stakes for the rest of the prequel trilogy.

Following his appearance in The Phantom Menace, Neeson returned to the role for a few select appearances in The Clone Wars, Tales of the Jedi, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

However, a huge chunk of the character’s backstory has been filled in with the various novels, comics, and other tie-ins over the years.

Now, a new Star Wars comic book run focused on several characters has launched, and fans are loving it.

Star Wars #1 from Marvel Comics features stories across different eras of Star Wars, focusing on the characters of Luke Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Darth Vader.

The comic’s official description reads: “Celebrating the new era of Star Wars comics! Luke Skywalker finds himself in a wretched hive of scum and villainy facing off against pirates! Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn & Tensu Run are on the hunt for the villainous Corlis Rath! Who is the mysterious Vanee and what is his connection to Darth Vader & Kylo Ren?”

“The Jedi Knights story was actually my favourite of the bunch,” wrote one comment on Reddit.

“I thought the voice and personality for Qui-Gon Jinn was spot on,” wrote another.

Despite the positive reception to Qui-Gon’s return, it’s actually not the story that seems to be getting the most buzz.

“Got this just for the Vanee story, and it was worth the drive to my nearest participating comic book shop!” wrote another comment.
