Another day, another Netflix live-action and this time it is the world-renowned Pokémon franchise that is receiving the television treatment.

It is easy to assume that the majority of us grew up with Pokémon, whether we wanted to or not!

In the meantime, check out the trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet below!

From games to cards, to movies to television shows, the IP is one of the highest-grossing in the world for a reason and it shows no signs of slowing down decades on.

That is why Netflix seemingly wants to get in on the action by developing a live-action adaptation that is “reportedly in development”.

This news comes courtesy of reliable scooper Daniel RPK who recently took to social media to share an update on the project.

According to his post, the live-action adaptation is in development and will be written by Joe Henderson.

Additionally, Daniel has shared that the show will focus on bringing the character Red to life.

If you didn’t already know, Red was the inspiration behind the character of Ash Ketchum and was the first ever Pokémon trainer back in the day.

Red has featured in many of the Pokémon manga series as well as in the first-generation games, even returning as a post-game trainer battle in Gen-II.

He also starred in Pokémon Generations, the 2016 anime adaptation released on Youtube by The Pokémon Company.

With the character taking more of a backseat role in recent years, it appears as though he will be the titular character for the Netflix live-action and we can’t wait to see it.

Other than that, there is not much more information about the project despite initial reports of the show were first announced back in 2021.

With Netflix’s live-action adaptations being hit-or-miss, it remains to be seen which category the upcoming Pokémon series will fall into.
