In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, a new Lord of the Rings RPG has been announced.

Although it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, The Lord of the Rings is a stunning tale that easily traverses different mediums to tell its story.

It captivates us.

Consequently, when the opportunity to get a hands-on experience of Middle-earth arises, you can bet your second breakfast we’re taking it.

This isn’t in reference to the exciting news that a LOTR RPG is coming to Xbox and Steam, but of a different game entirely.

We doubt you need an excuse to rewatch The Lord of the Rings trilogy trailer

We’re talking about the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.

The new addition to the tabletop adventure will be the first one in six years, though that’s not the best or most surprising part.

Advert

What’s really got fans chomping at the bit is the fact that this new RPG experience will include content from the new LOTR film, The War of the Rohirrim.

As the first “female-led” outing from the franchise, this animated instalment had already piqued fans’ interest.

But now, with a crossover between cinema and gaming, the curiosity surrounding The War of Rohirrim has increased tenfold.

This Warner Bros produced movie will be markedly different to the LOTR films we’ve grown accustomed to.

Said to take inspiration from anime, we can anticipate an aesthetically unique instalment.

How this translates into the game, though, is unknown.

While we know some of its content will feature, we don’t know what said content is.

An update on the RPG is expected in the coming weeks, meaning we don’t have long to wait before we get some of the answers we seek.

Still, we have to wait a little bit, nonetheless.

Those interested in playing this new tabletop expansion may want to start preparing their battle strategy.
