The multiverse saga has been making waves in the MCU and while Marvel has been pushing out a lot of films and TV shows, some characters have been left languishing.

Fans of Shang-Chi have been left wondering what’s happening with the character, seeing as we’ve not seen him since his Marvel debut in 2021.

Shang-Chi will be back sometime after 2026

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has remained a favourite among fans, yet he has been waiting in the wings while the MCU focuses on others.

At one point, there was a fear that we wouldn’t get a sequel, despite the success of the film and the introduction of a great character with links to other heroes.

According to industry insider, Daniel Richtman, we could be seeing more of Shang-Chi in the next few years.

Richtman states that while filming isn’t scheduled to start until 2026, the film is still on the docket for Marvel Studios, giving us something to look forward to.

It’s likely that Shang-Chi 2 was put on the back burner after the Kang storyline was squashed, following the sacking of Jonathon Majors.

Shang-Chi’s rings, which he uses to fight, were due to have links to Kang, which would have made him a more important character in the battle against the villain, perhaps seeing him with ties to Ant-Man.

Now this storyline has been cancelled, for a new focus on Doctor Doom and the merging of the multiverse, we could see something very different for Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi.

It’s unclear if the hero will appear in Avengers: DOOMSDAY or Avengers: Secret Wars, but seeing as practically every other hero is in the mix, it’s likely he’ll feature.

Hopefully, we’ll get some more news on this as the year progresses and Marvel begins to look towards the end of the multiverse saga.
