Marvel fans may have just had a little tease that Scarlet Witch could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, was a prominent character in the later entries of Marvel’s Infinity Saga. Following that, she had a main role in the 2021 Disney Plus miniseries WandaVision.

The character was last seen in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with the character being seemingly killed off at the end.

And while she will appear in the animated Marvel Zombies later this year, a live-action return has not been confirmed yet.

Wanda's last appearance was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Now, Scarlet Witch actress Elisabeth Olsen has teased that she may be open to returning to the role again in the future.

In an interview with Collider, Olsen said: “I do feel very lucky that I’ve been able to play a character for over 10 years of my life, and I’d love to keep doing more.”

“But the animation thing, I feel like it’s a parallel world. I don’t really know how it intersects with what we do. But I’ve really enjoyed getting to play her over 10 years, and I continue to feel lucky that I have the opportunities I did, creatively.”

With the Multiverse now an established thing in the MCU, it’s clear that Scarlet Witch could definitely return in some form later down the line.

I mean, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness even confirmed there were multiple Wandas living in separate realities.

So when combined with Olsen seemingly up for playing the role again, this feels like a question of when rather than if.

As it stands though, Olsen is not confirmed to be appearing in any new live-action Marvel projects for the time being.

Her latest film, The Assessment, is releasing in cinemas on 21st March.

With Avengers: Doomsday allegedly beginning filming next month, it’s possible we may learn more as production continues.

So far, returning Avengers cast members Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch are confirmed to be starring.
