In the wake of concept art leaking out of Marvel Studios, showing us glimpses of the upcoming Avengers: DOOMSDAY, more leaks and rumours are starting to emerge.

This time, the rumours come from Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, who is sharing possible plot details for the upcoming Avengers films.

The Fantastic Four will be an important part of the MCU over the coming years

Ever since Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Doctor Doom, fans have wondered how he will make his first appearance, and whether any attention will be given to the previous ‘big bad’ of Kang.

According to Perez, Doom will set himself up as a saviour of the Sacred Timeline, by stopping incursion events, much like the one we saw Doctor Strange dash off to at the end of his last adventure.

Much like Thanos, Doom will see himself as a hero, with only the best intentions.

Doom will, essentially, form his own timeline, no matter the cost to life throughout.

This isn’t far off of what happens in the Secret Wars comics, where Doom pulls all multiverses together into Battlworld, before merging them all.

Perez notes that the outcome will likely be a soft reboot of the MCU, rather than a full one, saying, “The idea is to essentially update the timeline/universe.”

This will lead into The Fantastic Four and the X-Men being a core part of the MCU going forward - pulling them from their universes, into Earth-616.

It’s the perfect entry for characters who have previously been under the watch of other Hollywood studios.

Fans seem hesitant of a full reboot, seeing their favourite characters recast, so it’s good to note that Marvel doesn’t appear to be heading in that direction.

However, some form of ‘reboot’ has to occur in order to bring in characters we’re already familiar with, but with new actors in the roles.

It’s going to be an exciting few years for Marvel fans.
