Every Marvel fan is counting down the days until next May when the Avengers is finally back after a 7-year hiatus.

Kicking off with Avengers: Doomsday on 1 May, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on 7 May 2027, these movies will mark the first Avengers entries in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It has been six years since Avengers: Endgame exploded onto our screens!

Whilst much of its plot still remains a secret, as well as its fully confirmed cast list, we do know some information about the highly-anticipated movie including the news that Robert Downey Jr. will be playing the next major villain, Doctor Doom.

Now thanks to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, we now have even more exciting rumours surrounding the future of Avengers: Doomsday.

According to the insider, Doom has big plans for the Multiverse as his main goal will be to stop the incursions that threaten a Multiverse collapse.

As a hero in his own eyes, he wants to “take the reins of his timeline and win his freedom”.

Additionally, Perez also revealed that, despite the movie moving away from Kang who was set to be the main villain in the next Avengers movie, the story will still explore the Kang dynasty.

"It’s still a very similar story being told: and that’s that the remaining heroes of the remaining worlds of the Multiverse have to find a way to save their own universe and how they’d go about doing that, even if it means the destruction of the other universe to save their own,” he explained.

The movie will also see our heroes battle Multiverse versions of themselves with the Fantastic Four, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Wong, Bruce Banner, and a "handful of mutants" all leading our new group of saviours.

Loki will also play a key-role, especially considering he is still powering the infinite branching timelines, and there will be a “race against Doomsday” to see who gets to him first.

Last but not least, Perez revealed that the post-Secret Wars MCU will not feature a reboot. Instead, "the idea is to essentially update the timeline/universe into one where the Fantastic 4 and X-Men characters exist."

Exciting stuff indeed.
