Spoilers are going to come up, just an FYI.

Marvel isn’t known for its subtlety, nor does it shy away from jarring deaths.

In truth, fans relish the emotional pull such moments have – it keeps us gripped, forever wondering if those characters are truly dead.

Need we mention Scarlet Witch? She’s a prime example of Marvel’s known antics.

That being said, there are times when a death is so shocking that it leaves fans lost for words.

Arguably, this brutal slaying of a beloved X-Man is one of those moments.

In the new Wolverine series, Ultimate Wolverine, things take a downward turn when Logan meets Nightcrawler.

It's time to look ahead at what Marvel's planning

We don’t need to remind you of the close relationship these two have; some would describe them as best friends, such is their connection.

Seeing what Wolverine has become – this mindless killing machine – Nightcrawler tries to reason with his friend by reminding him of who he is, not who he’s become.

But, given the severity of the situation, neither one of them puts down their weapons and thus bloodshed ensues.

Wolverine impales his friend, leaving Nightcrawler to say a prayer for him as he slowly dies before Logan’s eyes.

As per ComicBook, these are the character’s last words, “If you’re in there, my friend, I pray you have the strength… I’m sorry we weren’t quick enough… We came back… we came back for y-you… We would always… come back… for…”

This is only the beginning of the trauma that awaits X-Men fans, as Wolverine is far from through with slaying his former friends and colleagues.

We’re nervous to see what comes next in this limited series, though we suspect it’ll be savage and unforgiving.

Speaking of brutality, you should check out the new Daredevil trailer that has fans hyped – it’s bloody good.

Both on-screen and on the page, blood will be spilt.
