Deadpool is about to star in a brand new Marvel series, and it seems that one scene in the MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine is going to be its biggest influence.

In case you didn’t hear, Deadpool died recently. But this is Deadpool we’re on about, so (in classic comic book fashion) his death lasted all of about 10 seconds.

However, in the interim between his death and his revival, Deadpool’s daughter Ellie Camacho took over the family business and struck out in a Deadpool costume of her own.

But now that her dad is back, the two of them are set to tackle a new threat - other Deadpools.

As revealed in a recent press statement by Marvel, Deadpool is going to lead a new team of anti-heroes in a comic series titled “Pooluminati” - and it’s sure to feature every single Deadpool variant you could possibly imagine.

Thunderbolts* is the next Marvel film to land.

“After Earth got caught in the crossfires of the Kree/Skrull War, Iron Man assembled the Illuminati… Now, it’s Wade Wilson’s turn to join the ranks of this secret society… kind of,” states the press release on the official Marvel website.

“Enter, the Pooluminati, the most elite Deadpools from across the Multiverse. Deadpool and his daughter Ellie embark on an inter-dimensional adventure to prove they’re worthy of joining the prestigious ranks of the Pooluminati. But what dark secrets will they unearth in the process?”

They also tease something about “a giant Deadpool mech” in the first issue, so look forward to that.

However, if you simply can’t wait, Marvel has posted a preview of the first issue on their site, so you can get a look at that Super Sentai-shaped Deadpool mech for yourselves.

Definitely seems like someone at Marvel’s editorial saw that one scene of all the Deadpools fighting in Deadpool & Wolverine and thought, “Hell yeah, let’s make a series out of this”. You can decide what to make of it for yourself when the first issue of Pooluminati goes on sale on 26 March.
