Marvel fans heartbroken as MCU series quietly taken from us

Take a moment to think about what we've lost

Sometimes it’s better not knowing what you lost.

Marvel fans have recently learnt that several MCU projects were cancelled that showed enormous promise.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that the MCU has once again ditched Spider-Man, we now discover that three series were quietly culled.

What more does Marvel want to take from us, huh?

At least we've still got all of these Marvel projects to look forward to

Twitter account Discussing Films revealed that back when James Gunn worked at Marvel Studios, he had “three spin-offs" from Guardians of the Galaxy planned.

Fans are, as you’d expect, reacting accordingly to discovering what they’ve lost by Gunn jumping ship to DC.

“Part of me wishes he didn't switch to DC,” posted pokerface266. “But hey, some competition was never a bad thing.”

“Losing Gunn, not even just to the competition, I think will hurt them in the long run,” argued AceofKnaves44.

When promising axed projects come to light, it certainly feels that way to the fandom.

On Twitter, user @BryceStorbakken said, “Awesome! Too bad Disney destroyed the relationship.”

There’s a lot of heartache over what could have been if only Gunn had stayed at Marvel.

Light could be at the end of the tunnel though, for some believe at least one of these spin-offs still exists.

“That Star-Lord one I’m sure is still in development,” commented Redditor trentjpruitt97. “I mean they said he alone would return at the end of Vol. 3.”

We can but hope that there’s some semblance of truth there.

It’s not all doom and gloom, thankfully, as the Marvel community has learnt that Loki’s return has officially been confirmed.

Much like with any online community, there are just as many victories as there are losses.

Hopefully, the loss of Gunn to DC doesn’t end up costing Marvel dearly.

And if it does, well, let’s just hope Disney has something impressive hidden up its sleeve.
