A live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is currently in the works and although we don’t yet know too much about it, a recent rumour may have confirmed our first star.

As mentioned, what we do know about The Legend of Zelda movie is pretty limited but we do know that it will be directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes).

Ball will be joined by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad as producers as well as Joe Hartwick Jr., via Oddball Entertainment.

The movie is slated for a 26 March 2027 release so it is a long way away but according to a recent rumour by insider DanielRPK, Ball and co. may have already found their Princess Zelda.

Princess Zelda is an iconic character in The Legend of Zelda franchise. After all, the whole series is named after her. Her and Link will be the most coveted roles and if this rumour is true, I believe the filmmakers have made an incredible choice.

That is because DanielRPK has reported that Hunter Schafer is being eyed to play Princess Zelda in The Legend of Zelda movie.

Best known for her roles in Euphoria, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Cuckoo, Schafer has already made her mark on the acting world and with fans calling for her to take on the role of Zelda since the movie was first announced, this would perhaps be the perfect casting.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight back in 2023 whether she could be starring in the movie, Schafer said, “That would be so cool.

"I played that video game a bunch when I was a kid. That’s such a good game.”

The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is expected to begin filming in New Zealand in November this year and should be wrapped up by April 2026.

As a result, it should not be long before we hear the official casting for the highly-anticipated film.
