Harry Potter fans have been casting actors in popular leading roles in the upcoming TV production from HBO, leaving some fans devastated.

No doubt, Harry Potter’s Wizarding World is one of the biggest properties in entertainment, whether it’s movies, novels, merchandise or video games such as 2023’s Hogwart Legacy developed by Avalanche Software.

HBO and Warner Bros. announced the Harry Potter live-action TV series in 2023 and is considered to be a reboot of the movie franchise. However, production on the series is in such early development, that we know very few official details.

For months, fans have been casting who they’d like to play some of the beloved characters such as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Not to mention the likes of Professor Severus Snape and Rubeus Hagrid.

That being said, we do know of at least one official casting, and that’s Albus Dumbledore will be played by a very popular 87-year-old actor.

At this time, not much has been said as to who will play the parents of Harry Potter, namely James and Lily. Though to be fair, despite being important characters, they never really featured heavily in the movies or novels.

Yet, fans on Reddit have still been wondering who will play the roles of James and Lily Potter in the HBO reboot and HistoryfictionDetect believes they have the answer.

So who are the two actors that the Reddit user has fancast, I hear you ask? HistoryfictionDetect believes that Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) should play James and Amelie Green (Malory Towers) should play Lily.

While some users on the Reddit thread initially thought both actors were too young to play the parents of Harry Potter, it’s worth keeping in mind that James and Lily were both killed at just 21 years old in the novels.

At the time of writing, Louis Partridge is 21 (22 in June) and Amelie Green is 18 (19 in July), so both actors are pretty much an ideal age to play the parents of Harry Potter when the series eventually launches.

“At first I was like ‘he looks perfect but way too young’, but then I realised that Louis is actually 21. So this is how young Lily and James looked when they died,” said Historical_Poem5216. “That’s so heart-wrenching.”

“It would be devastating to see actors barely in their 20s but it makes sense,” replied PeachesToybox64.

“He’s way too handsome. I’m not sure if glasses would suit him though,” ChallengeMiserable75 suggested.

There is currently no release date for the Harry Potter TV series but it is likely to be a year or two away. Hopefully, we’ll learn loads of new details by the end of 2025 and we’ll keep you posted when that information drops.
