We just got our first look at Batman (as well as another very important DC character) in James Gunn’s DC universe, and fans are a bit hit-and-miss on the huge reveal.

Also, massive spoiler warning in advance: stop reading right here if you haven’t seen the fourth episode of Creature Commandos yet.

This article features massive, huge spoilers for the show and James Gunn’s DC film universe in general from this point onwards, so don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Alright, still with me? So, the fourth episode of Creature Commandos dropped a few days ago, giving us our first look at Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman in the new slate of DC films.

The reveal was a bit out of left field, which is probably why a lot of folks online are mostly just mystified at this point in time.

In a thread titled “Creature Commandos Ep4: First (animated) look at Wonder Woman & Batman” over on the r/DC_Cinematic subreddit, folks chimed in with their opinions on the character’s new looks.

ICYMI: Take a look at the Superman trailer below.

“Am I tripping,” commented user cool_pillow99, “or does batman have the collar like Robert Pattinson's batman?”

“So given this is all in the same universe,” commented user The-Peel, “the first time we ever get to see Gunnverse Batman and Wonder Woman is when they're dead? Nice.”

Now, we should get the obvious out of the way: this might not actually have any bearing on the future designs of the characters in James Gunn’s DC films.

A lot of folks are theorising that this might be a teaser for the final designs of Wonder Woman and Batman’s costumes, but considering the scene in Creature Commandos is supposed to be a potential future that hasn’t come to pass yet, this all subject to change in the future.

We’ll have to see how this all pans out once the characters pop up in live-action down the line.
