Brendan Fraser wants to do The Mummy 4 as much as we want him to

If there's a The Mummy 4, Brendan Fraser wants to be in it.

We’re just one month away from the 96th Academy Awards which means that it’s almost one year to the day that internet favourite Brendan Fraser scooped the award for Best Actor for his role in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale.

It’s no secret that Brendan is universally adored online, and The Whale’s press tour only furthered that fact. From the tearful standing ovations to heartfelt speeches, Brendan Fraser proved that he’s just an all-around wholesome guy. The question on everybody’s mind, what would be next for the actor? Those who do win an Oscar usually find themselves inundated with big budget mainstream role offers shortly after. Think Brie Larson landing Captain Marvel after winning for Room, or Ariana Debose becoming Disney’s latest princess in Wish following her West Side Story win. As for Brendan, it’s been a much quieter post-win affair.

Take a look at Brendan Fraser's post-win interview below.

The actor did appear in Killers of the Flower Moon while the upcoming comedy Brothers, which also stars Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage, is in post-production. What we’re surprisingly yet to see is Brendan return to a blockbuster role à la his The Mummy days. While The Mummy 4 may not yet be officially on the cards, the good news is that Brendan has expressed interest in returning to the franchise, all these years later.

In a previous interview with Deadline, the actor said, “Gosh, I don’t know any juicy details about it. But it’s kind of an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know an actor that doesn’t want a job. I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up.” There’s hope, my friends.

If we know anything about Hollywood, it’s that the industry loves both franchises and reboots. Surely The Mummy 4 is a question of when, not if? We’ll just have to wait and see. Either way, we always look forward to seeing what’s next from Rick O’Connell himself.
