The South Park animated series is no stranger to pushing boundaries and controversy to its limits, resulting in everyone and everything being a target for its signature satirical humour.

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park made its debut all the way back in 1997 and over the course of its existence, has produced well over 300 episodes, as well as a movie "Bigger, Longer & Uncut” in 1999.

Regardless of what you may or may not think of the South Park series, it cleverly takes real-life situations and pop culture references constantly reinvigorating with each new season. So what if someone tried to replicate South Park’s signature humour and writing, surely nothing could go wrong, right?

As reported by our friends at UNILAD, the TikTok account ‘ai south park’, has attempted to recreate the South Park formula using AI technology, and the results are cursed, even for this franchise.

For starters, the animations are so bad, that it arguably puts the South Park video game that was originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998 to shame. Like seriously, there’s something unnervingly possessed-like about Cartman, Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Butters in the TikTok recreations.

Then we have the dialogue to speak of. It’s almost as if random lines from the series have been selected and stapled together. Thinking about it, perhaps that’s not too far removed from what’s actually happened here.

No doubt AI technology is fast advancing and has come a long way. However, perhaps when it comes to iconic properties such as South Park, maybe it's best left to the experts. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Trey Parker and Matt Stone create an episode dedicated to this TikTok monstrosity.

In related news, back in 2021, it was announced that a new 3D South Park game is in development. Sadly since that time, it’s been quiet on the news front. Hopefully, we’ll get an official update this year.

At least for now, we can play the two fantastic South Park RPG games, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured but Whole available for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
