The Warriors PS5 remake petition started by devoted fans

"My favorite game by Rockstar for many reasons."

Fans of The Warriors, the action-adventure game from Rockstar Toronto based on the 1979 movie of the same name, are pleading for a remake for the PlayStation 5 and suffice to say, we would love to see it.

Video games and movies have a tenuous relationship, to be diplomatic about it. Movies made from video games tend to not be that good, excluding the Sonic movies of course, but the jury's still out on the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie with Chris Pratt. Jack Black will probably put his whole heart and soul into Bowser which will be an undeniable highlight. On the other hand, video games made from movies are similarly shaky - bar the Bee Movie Game on the Nintendo Wii. It slapped, and as a whippersnapper who played the game before seeing the movie, I was discombobulated. Where was the taxi minigame?

With regard to The Warriors, Rockstar Toronto didn't only recreate the events of the movie, it expanded it with sections covering what happened three months before the start of the movie. Moreover, members of the movie's original cast came back to voice their characters in the game, immersing players in the streets of Coney Island, fighting to clear their names from the rival gangs and from police.

It's a game that is cherished dearly, and missed out on a fully fledged sequel, so it should come at no surprise that there is a petition to get the game on the PlayStation 5.

"It would be amazing to give The Warriors more attention that it has got over the years. My favorite game by Rockstar for many reasons. The tone, the music, the characters, voice acting, story and really fun gameplay," said one fan who signed. "If it was just given a chance this could be one of the best games out to date," added another. At the time of writing, the petition has over 800 signatures, and I imagine it'll see a lot more very soon.
