The Mandalorian just included a major prequels cameo, and fans are thrilled

The latest episode of The Mandalorian includes a major prequels cameo - and fans are thrilled about it.

HBO’s The Last of Us may have drawn to a close but Pedro Pascal is still undeniably the current king of TV. The Mandalorian is in the midst of airing its third season and the latest episode, titled ‘The Foundling’, just included a major Star Wars prequels cameo - and fans are freaking out.

The Star Wars franchise is experiencing somewhat of a bump in the road, with several projects cancelled in recent weeks. The Mandalorian continues to be a reliable success, although the series has seen a shift in tone with some viewers even jokingly referring to it as ‘The Andorlorian’ - comparing season three to Andor’s perhaps slightly more mature storytelling. Personally, I enjoyed last week’s excursion into the political landscape of the New Republic but it did prove to be the lowest-rated episode to date this season. This week’s instalment though, ‘The Foundling’, has done what Star Wars does best. It’s cameo time.

Yet to dive into season three? Take a look at what’s in store this season below.

It goes without saying that I’ll be addressing spoilers for ‘Chapter 20: The Foundling’ ahead, so beware. Directed by Greef Karga actor Carl Weathers, ‘The Foundling’ finally revealed who saved Grogu during Order 66. Well, we finally know that everyone’s favourite lil’ green kid was saved by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. Don’t worry if you’re thinking, ‘Who?’ The cameo part relates to who plays the character.

Kelleran Beq was played in the episode by none other than Ahmed Best who, of course, brought Jar Jar Binks to life in the prequel trilogy - who, if you ask me, should get his own Disney+ series. Unfortunately, the backlash to Jar Jar Binks was extremely intense which Best confirmed, in later years, had a huge impact on his mental health. Needless to say, fans are thrilled to see Best enjoying returning to the franchise all these years later.

Twitter user themeadowpicnic wrote, “Seeing Ahmed Best back made me cry. I’m so glad he’s back oh my god, welcome back,” while 1610SPlDEY added, “I’m so f**king happy for Ahmed Best, oh my god. Dude goes from one of the most despised Star Wars characters to playing the Jedi who saved Grogu. He f**king deserves this.”
